Bertone: Design and Innovation

Son of Giovanni Bertone, already a bodyshop owner, Giuseppe Bertone, called “Nuccio”, thanks to his skill in the economic field, brings, after the Second World War, Bertone, inherited from his father, to be known all over the world. Some of the greatest car designers of all time have been discovered and established by him: first of all Giorgetto Giugiaro and Marcello Gandini who have joined their pencils to the Bertone brand and designed many cars that have now become a part of the history. Nuccio Bertone died in his home in February 1997 at the age of 83, after leading the company for almost 50 years. For his activity in the field of four wheels he was included in the Automotive Hall of Fame in 2006.

Number of great designers have worked for Bertone: Franco Scaglione, Giorgietto Giugiaro, Marc Deschamps, Luciano D’Ambrosio, Marcello Gandini, Giuliano Maria Biasio, David Wilkie and Michael Robinson.

Some of the most beautiful cars in the world are designed by Bertone: Lamborghini Miura e Countach, Ferrari 308 GT4, Aston Martin JET 2, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint and Montreal, Lancia Stratos, Fiat Barchetta. As well as the worlds unique prototypes such as Bertone Nuccio and Alfa Romeo Pandion.

Bertone comes from a complicated history lasting over 20 years, ending in 2014 with a painful failure. In 2016 the brand was taken over by French multinational company AKKA Technologies, which in 2018 has granted exclusive license to Flymove for the development of the new Dianchè cars. Allowing Bertone to finally return to its role as a famous brand at the top of the automotive world of design.
